She was known by everyone in the town as “Mrs. Together they moved to Whitesville, New York where she gave birth to their first child, Kelly Andrea Kotmel. Upon graduation from business school, her wish came true when she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Francis Kotmel. She confided in close friends and family that she attended Jean Summers because it only took a year to graduate and she was eager to marry and begin a family as soon as she could. ![]() She graduated with high honors and went on to attend Jean Summers Business School, where she also graduated at the top of her class. Her nickname back then was “string bean Dean” because of her long legs and slender build. ![]() She won many trophies due to her amazing athleticism, and in fact could outrun most of the boys in her class. She attended Odessa-Montour High School, where she was head majorette, and played intramural sports such as archery and track and field. She enjoyed going to the neighbor’s house to watch the Mickey Mouse Club on TV, playing with dolls, and spending time with her best friend Mary Smalley. She was a happy baby and the apple of her father’s eye when he returned home.Ĭarol grew up as the middle child of the family, with an older sister, Sylvia, and a younger brother, Carlton (Carty). Her husband Francis and eldest daughter Kelly sat with her and held her as she passed.Ĭarol was born on in Montour Falls to her mother Beatrice (Darling) Dean while her father, Robert Dean, was in France fighting in World War Two. He was a 52 year-member of the BPOE #1546 Elks Lodge in Watkins Glen and the Mechanics Club in Montour Falls.Ĭhuck coached the Watkins Glen Sporting Goods Little League Baseball team for many years.
